Lisa HornerI began my career in 1996 as a Tax Preparer working for Peter Sapro, CPA in Watsonville, California, finding that I enjoyed trying to find the best tax solutions for my clients.
Upon closing my daycare business in 2000, I naturally gravitated towards working as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for Bill Johnston, PA, in Freedom, California.
In 2001, I became an Enrolled Agent in order to deepen my understanding of tax preparation.
From 2000 to 2007, I enjoyed working for Mr Johnston; learning the ropes from a well respected community leader who remains a close friend. In his office I personally saw to the needs of a variety of business clients. During tax season this included the personal preparation of a variety of tax returns; individual, partnership, corporate, and trust. During these years I received invaluable experience doing everything from the set up of new businesses' books to the keeping of those books. In addition I provided all payroll, sales tax and business tax return compliance for these clients. But I found that I wanted to expand my knowledge of accounting.
In 2007 I left Mr. Johnston's employ and received a Certificate of Advanced Accounting Proficiency from my Alma Mater, Santa Clara University.
I am active in the Mission Society of Enrolled Agents. I am also a member of the Ontrack Networking Group.
In the past I was proud to be actively involved in the Home and School Club and Site Council at the schools my children attended, holding office in both. I believe that many of my most important lessons in life have come from these volunteer opportunities, teaching me the importance of treating people with respect and integrity.
